The ACLI Young Leaders night at the Israel: Seventy & Strong Summit was an encouraging and uplifting time together during such an historic occasion in Washington, D.C.

“Why Israel matters?” was the message of the night by Dr. Jeremy Roberts, Lead Pastor of Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Taylor, South Carolina. He began by having the crowd of 400 say together, “Israel matters to people because Israel matters to God.” He went on to talk about the significance of the contributions made by Jewish people during the course of human history. “Israel is an agricultural miracle, a sociological miracle, a military miracle and a linguistic miracle,” Roberts said as he recanted the many miracles we have seen exhibited in and through the modern state of Israel.

Amongst the 400 Christian leaders in attendance there was a strong contingent of 50 millennial leaders at this multi-generational gathering. Dr. George Giacumakis, Professor Emeritus of History at California State University, Fullerton, and Director Emeritus of the university’s Irvine Campus and a Director of the Museum of Biblical and Sacred Writings in Irvine, California, held a panel discussion consisting of millennial leaders. The young leaders shared about what it means as a millennial to be an ambassador for Israel on their college campuses and in their professional careers.

Dove Award winning artist Aaron Shust, lead us in a time of worship and premiered his new song “Zion” to commemorate Israel’s 70th Anniversary. All of those in attendance at this sold out event were so touched that they requested the song be sung again at the end of the night. As you read some of the lyrics below you can see how deeply it reflects God’s heart for His people Israel. It was truly a remarkable and special moment as we closed the evening singing these words for Zion. (You can purchase the single at itunes, spotify or Google play).

ZION
Words and Music: Aaron Shust
O daughters of Zion
O Abraham’s sons
Hear the words of your Father
Hear His promise of love
“I will make you a blessing
Count the stars if you can
You will be a great nation
I will give you this land”

CHORUS
I will bring you back home
Bring you back home Oh My children
You will no longer roam
Lost and alone in the night
We will never be severed from that glorious day
When I gather you under My wings
I will bring you all back home (again)
