THE LEADERSHIP OF THE US Branch of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem held high level meetings on Capitol Hill representing over 60,000 signers of the ICEJ’s petition to the White House opposing the Iran Agreement. The petition was delivered on September 3rd to the White House as well as Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell; Senate Minority Leader, Harry Reid; Speaker of the House, John Boehner; and House Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi.
Just one day before the Senate and House votes on the Iran Agreement began, ICEJ’s Susan Michael, US Director, and Daryl Hedding, US Deputy Director, met with Senators Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham, Bob Corker, and Jeff Sessions as well as Speaker of the House, John Boehner. At many of these meetings, the ICEJ leadership was joined by various other Christian leaders who signed on to the American Christian Leaders for Israel petition against the Iran deal. Those leaders included Linda Smith, National Religious Broadcasters; Earl Cox, Israel Always; Roberta Combs, Christian Coalition; Coach Mike Gottfried, Team Focus; and Mario Bramnick, Hispanic Israel Leadership Coalition.
“Before we arrived on Capitol Hill we had already heard the news that the Senate had failed to get a veto-proof majority to vote against the deal,” said Susan Michael. “So, we used these meetings to let these pro-Israel members of Congress know that the ICEJ, and other ACLI leaders representing Christians opposed this very dangerous deal with Iran, and we asked them to do everything they could to mitigate this deal with further legislation.”
We would like to thank all of our supporters who rose up at this time to be an active voice in defense of Israel and the United States. While we did not achieve the result we wanted, we will continue speaking up for what is right and trusting in the God of Israel, who is ultimately in control.
